Cornelius Thompson · Founder · Technology leader

I build what the business runs on.

Products, platforms, infrastructure, and operations—designed together, built for production, and made understandable.

More than 15 years of hands-on technology leadership across the United States and Japan, from first idea through the systems, teams, vendors, and handoffs that keep it operating.

Selected work

The proof is in
what ships.

I work across the boundaries where projects usually break: product and infrastructure, software and operations, technical detail and business consequence.

01 / FOUNDER + PRODUCT

Build the company and the machinery behind it.

I founded LabCMD in 2021 and lead product strategy, software delivery, infrastructure, security, branding, vendor work, and customer support. The visible products and the internal operating platforms are designed as one connected system.

THE OPERATING SYSTEM

Products are only half the build.

LabCMD also runs on software I designed to connect outreach, relationships, agreements, subscriptions, accounting, support, access, and AI-assisted operations. Each handoff has an owner and an auditable result.

  • Rust / Axum
  • SolidJS / TypeScript
  • Python / Flask
  • PostgreSQL
  • ScyllaDB
  • WebSockets
  • Docker / Linux
  • Cloudflare
  • Microsoft Graph

02 / ACQUISITION DELIVERY

Make the handoff controlled, complete, and usable.

At Dry Box, I lead the technology workstream supporting the company’s transition to United Rentals: infrastructure, application operations, data preparation, documentation, access, and the practical work of transferring knowledge to new owners.

Sanitized delivery evidence

146
files organized for a six-stakeholder due-diligence room
1,831
vendor records prepared for conversion
15,271
active customer records prepared across all required fields
7
remote sites documented and supported

Counts describe the work without publishing client records or internal documents.

What the role actually spans

  • High-availability Cisco core and segmented site networking
  • Dual-firewall perimeter, VPN, Active Directory, DNS, and PKI
  • Python/Flask applications, PostgreSQL data, and CI/CD
  • Salesforce attribution, privacy-aware analytics, and ERP/CRM data
  • AI integrations, vendor support, and marketing technology

Experience

Built close to production.

The through-line is operational responsibility: systems that serve real people, under real constraints, after launch day.

U.S. ↔ JAPAN International by experience and by life.

Nearly eight years working in Japan, conversational Japanese, family in both countries, and availability for domestic or international travel.

How I work

Own the whole
shape of the problem.

01 / SEE

Map the real system.

People, software, data, infrastructure, vendors, and failure modes all belong in the same picture.

02 / BUILD

Make the handoffs explicit.

Good systems show who owns the next action and preserve enough evidence to understand what happened.

03 / OPERATE

Stay after launch.

Reliability, support, security, and the unglamorous details are part of the product—not somebody else’s problem.

The next build

Need someone who can see across the system?

Need custom software built, an internal audit of your technology systems, or help untangling infrastructure? I take on carefully scoped work through LabCMD and remain open to technology leadership and U.S.–Japan initiatives.
